Estes Park Presenters Named to Modern Healthcare List

Congratulations to Estes Park Institute’s Senior Fellow, Gary Kaplan, MD, and Guest Presenter, Robert Wachter, MD.  Both have been named to Modern Healthcare’s 2017 “50 Most Influential Physician Executives and Leaders” list. These health care leaders have earned a place on the list for several years running, with Dr. Kaplan being named for the twelfth time and Dr. Wachter making his tenth appearance on the list.

Gary Kaplan serves as Estes Park Institute’s Senior Fellow of Innovation Medicine and has been CEO and chairman of the Virginia Mason Health System in Seattle since 2000, where he is also a practicing internist. Under his leadership, Virginia Mason has received significant national and international praise for its efforts to transform health care. He is a founding member of Health CEOs for Health Reform, was named Chairman of the National Patient Safety Foundation’s Lucian Leape Institute in 2015, and has held leadership positions with numerous organizations.

Robert Wachter, Chair of UCSF Department of Medicine, is a recognized thought leader in health care quality, safety, and organization of care. A practicing physician, he is intimately familiar with and involved in both the promises and challenges related to the computerization of health care. He shares his expertise for moving physicians and technology forward to effectively advance patient care.

Dr. Kaplan and Dr. Wachter were also named to Modern Healthcare's "100 Most Influential People in Healthcare" list in August 2016.      We are honored to have these influential health care leaders presenting at the Estes Park Institute.
