Once again, Estes Park Institute Senior Fellow, Gary Kaplan, MD, has been named to Modern Healthcare’s list of the 50 Most Influential Clinical Executives. The list honors individuals who are deemed by their peers and the senior editors of Modern Healthcare to be paving the way to better health through their executive responsibility, leadership qualities, innovation, community service and achievements inside and outside of their respective organizations.

Dr. Kaplan has been CEO and chairman of the Virginia Mason Health System in Seattle since 2000, where he is also a practicing internist. Under his leadership, Virginia Mason has received significant national and international praise for its efforts to transform health care. He is a founding member of Health CEOs for Health Reform, is Chairman of the National Patient Safety Foundation’s Lucian Leape Institute, and has held leadership positions with numerous organizations.

At the Estes Park Institute, Dr. Kaplan shares his continuing journey of health care transformation at Virginia Mason, speaks on patient safety and quality, and discusses the unique challenges facing hospital boards.
